NX AgriGrow Co.,Ltd : Entered agribusiness

In 2013, Nippon Express, the parent company of NX AgriGrow Co.,Ltd, was looking for a new approach that could support the development of the agricultural sector, which has especially strong connections in the local regions. In order to gain a better understanding of the agricultural sector, the company decided to challenge itself in “production,” and considered what kind of production methods would be best for it. As a result, the company chose the “sunlight type plant factory” as one that would be stable and profitable for the company, and decided to select a system combining a NAPPER LAND and a NAE TERRACE of Mitsubishi Plastics Agri Dream Co. , Ltd. (now Mitsubishi Chemical Aquq Solutions Co.,Ltd.), a company with many years of experience in the field.
In establishing the farm, we visited a number of candidate local governments and decided on Hokuto City in Yamanashi Prefecture, which has a good reputation for inviting companies, as well as good weather conditions, water, and accessibility to consumption areas. As for the greenhouses, the project was selected as a “production area power-up project” under the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) measures, and a large-scale project of 1.2 hectares was planned, employing nearly 30 local people in particular, contributing greatly to the activation of the local community.
The construction of the project began in the summer of 2016 and was completed in September 2017, with a grand completion ceremony held with the Mayor of Hokuto City and many other guests.
Test cultivation began in August 2017, and the plant factory was almost fully operated in October. Mostly pak choi, spinach is also grown, and pak choi is now being sold to a major membership supermarket. The company is actively engaged in the sales activities to expand its sales channels.
